Loans

nbs offers five types of loan products. To qualify for any nbs loans you need to be a Samoa resident working and residing in Samoa and must be over 18 years of age.

Small Loans

 “Small loans” is a facility offered by nbs for very good existing nbs customers who do not qualify to borrow under Term loan or Personal loan criteria.

Loan amount starts from $100 through to $3,000 and repayments are a fixed amount for a fixed period of up to 6 months.

To process a Small Loan application, nbs requires the following: 
 
  • The applicant’s full salary needs to be directed to an nbs account for at least the past 3 months. 
  • Two guarantors with salary of over $10,000 per guarantor.
  • Loan repayments need to be honoured.
  • A good credit history.
  • The loan amount is about 35% of the net income less all other financial commitments. 


Personal Loans

A nbs “Personal Loan” is a simple hassle free and fast way to borrow money for just about anything.

You can borrow to:  

  • Buy a car
  • Take that well earned holiday
  • Buy a new lounge suite
  • Undertake some minor home renovations
  • For family commitments e.g. funeral, wedding, and title bestowment
  • Consolidation of small debts

 You can borrow from $3,000 to $50,000 and the loan has to be fully secured by landed security. nbs will lend up to 64% of the unsecured portion of the market value of property. You need to have your full salary credited directly into your nominated nbs bank account, and have a clean credit record. You also need to show that you can service the loan repayments.

 

The loan term is from 12 months to 180 months. Repayments can be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.


Term Loans

Term loans are designed to assist you when you need to purchase personal and/or commercial assets. nbs can also refinance your existing borrowings with other financial institutions.

Term loans range from $5,000 to $3.8 million. The total loan amount is required to be fully secured against unencumbered land/property or term deposit (s). The term is from 12 months to 180 months.

 

To be eligible for a Personal Term loan, you need to provide sufficient security, have stability of employment, have sufficient source of income, and have a clean credit check.

 

To be eligible for a Commercial Term loan, you need to provide sufficient security, have stability of employment and/or sufficient sources of income (business owners), provide recent financial statements, current actual financial accounts and cash flow projections, provide evidence to support financials supplied, and have a clean credit check.

 


Home Loans

For most Samoans, owning a home is still a dream worth striving for.

At nbs, we are in the business of making that dream come true. 

 

nbs offers very competitive interest rates with repayments options of weekly, fortnightly, monthly and terms up to 15 years.

 

Loan top ups are available with lump sum payments or full loan repayment can be made at anytime without incurring any fees or penalties.

 

For loan approval processing, necessary documentations needed is as follows:

 

  • Evidence of regular income – most recent payslip. 
  • Letter of salary confirmation from employer. 
  • Recent (not more than 3 years old) valuation report from approved nbs valuer for the property being purchased or property used as security. 
  • Signed copy of the sale and purchase agreement. 
  • Documents relating to any outstanding loans or debts with any other financial institutions. 

 

For new nbs customers, two forms of identification and past bank statements for the last 12 - 24 months are needed.
